Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MailGuard email-verification API and website (the "Service"), provided by MailGuard ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

MailGuard provides an API that performs heuristic email verification (syntax, MX records, disposable/role detection, typo suggestions and a deliverability score). Results are indicative, not guaranteed: they predict deliverability but cannot confirm that a specific mailbox exists or will accept mail.

2. Accounts & API keys

• You are responsible for keeping your API key secret and for all activity under it.
• The free tier is limited to one key per person/email; don't create multiple free accounts to exceed limits.
• You can rotate or stop using your key at any time via the dashboard.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• break any law, or infringe others' rights;
• send spam, or verify lists in order to send unsolicited messages;
• process personal data without a lawful basis to do so;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent rate limits or security of the Service;
• resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission.

4. Plans, billing & refunds

• Paid plans are billed via our payment provider on the cycle shown at checkout.
• Plan limits and prices are as displayed on the site and may change with notice for future billing periods.
• As the Service is digital and access is granted immediately, you agree that provision begins at once and, to the extent permitted by law, the statutory 14-day cancellation right for digital services does not apply once use has begun.
• You can cancel a subscription at any time to stop future charges; refunds are handled per the policy of our payment provider and applicable consumer law.

5. Availability

We aim for high availability but provide the Service on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on verification results. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Where liability is permitted to be capped, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

7. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or to protect the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms or the Service; we'll update the "last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify account holders.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
